How the projections are calculated, and what could change them
The projected values above are built from three assumptions: (1) the number of trees surviving to maturity on your plot, (2) the expected heartwood yield per mature tree at 12 years, and (3) today's market price range for graded red sanders timber. Change any of these, and the outcome changes.
Biological risk
Tree survival and heartwood formation vary with rainfall, soil, pests and care. We replace failed plants in the early years, but growth rates are nature's decision.
Market risk
Red sanders prices fluctuate with international demand and auction volumes. Prices at year 12 may be higher or lower than today's.
Regulatory risk
Felling, transit and sale of red sanders require government permissions and follow the state prescribed process. Timelines and procedures can change over 12 years.
What is not at risk
Your registered ownership of the land itself. Whatever happens to timber markets, the plot remains your asset.
